The Nigel Prosser Foundation

SEN Support For Families

We are the Nigel Prosser Foundation a UK Charity dedicated to supporting families with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our goal is to help SEN families integrate into everyday life and ease the daily challenges they face by providing financial support, education, life-changing equipment, and emotional guidance.

Our Mission Is To Provide SEN Support For Families

The Nigel Prosser Foundation was set up in loving memory of Nigel Prosser, a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and generous soul. We support families and SEN children across the UK, helping them access information, activities, life-changing equipment, guidance, and advice for free. Our mission is not only to provide SEN support but to reach as many children and families as possible.

Nigel's Story

Nigel was a beloved family member, friend, and valued member of the community.

His sudden passing in 2023 was a shock to many, and left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him.

Nigel’s love and support for his family and friends were evident in everything he did. He often said:

“I know Toby is different, but he’s great isn’t he?”

This simple statement reflects Nigel’s deep appreciation for his family, friends and the moments he shared with them.

Nigel was not just a grandfather, he was a pillar for many who often relied on him for support. His kindness, humour, and wisdom touched countless lives.

The Nigel Prosser Foundation honours Nigel’s legacy and provides SEN Support for Families. We aim to spread the warmth and love Nigel shared with everyone.

At Nigel’s funeral, I, Michelle, Tobys Mum, made a promise to his grandson, Toby, that I would keep Nigel’s memory alive through this foundation.

Toby, age 3, who is autistic and non-verbal, was unable to speak at his grandad’s funeral, but he shared this heartfelt tribute, which his mum Michelle read on his behalf:

What can I say about my grandad?

I know he was many things to many of you. To my nanny, he was her soulmate. To my mummy and daddy, he was a role model. To my sister and Thanita, he was one of their first loves. To so many of his friends, he was their guidance and someone to lean on.

But to me, my grandad was so much more. He was my hero.

He was the only person I would allow to give me a thousand kisses a day without pushing away. He was the only person whose smile brightened my day. He was the one who loved me for who I am and embraced my quirks. With him, I always felt safe.

Nanny, Daddy, and Mummy will help me remember you. You were the best friend a little boy could wish for. Thank you for fighting so hard to be here with us. I will love you forever. Sleep tight, Grandad—until we meet again.

We've Helped Support Families With SEN

We are proud to have supported hundreds of families with a range of Special Educational Needs. We asked our volunteers and people we have helped to share their stories with us.

Jess and her Family

Jess And Her Family

Jess is a mum of two and has a Son called Oliver who is non-verbal and autistic.

"We have really struggled with our day to day lives with Ollie. There arn't really many places that we can attend that cater for his needs, we've also struggled with public perspection and him being seen as the naughty child... it cut's deep. We have not been able to find a group or something that we can attend where people are in a similar situation but that has recently changed. Last week we attended a free event for children with special needs. It was a stay and play at a soft play and wow... It was amazing. Oliver had a blast and it was so nice to be in a room of families in a similar situation and to get their advice and share stories. I cannot thank The Nigel Prosser Foundation enough." - Jess (Parent)

"Today myself and my family attended the first Sen session provided by the Nigel Prosser Foundation which I was amazed with how quickly my son adjusted to new surroundings as he usually struggles when being taken to unfamiliar places. The room was the perfect size, the specialist toys/sensory items there were great and it wasn’t too busy or too quiet. It was a perfect medium. Anyone needing a safe space to take there SEN child/children and feel welcomed and supported, this is the group for you! Thank you again❤️" - Lauren (Parent)

"I recently won a spinning carousel chair on the foundations raffle, the chair is amazing and my son loves it! Entry of the raffle was super easy and I won a fantastic prize off a very reasonable entry fee. Will definitely be supporting the foundation in any further raffles or competitions. Great work guys!!⭐️" - Lucy (Parent)

Donations

Every donation we receive goes directly towards providing SEN support for families in need. Your contributions help fund new equipment, life-changing experiences, and essential resources.

Even a small donation of £2 can make a difference, it helps us buy craft materials, provide a meal for a child, or contributes towards life-changing support. Your kindness means so much to us and to Nigel’s memory.

Thank you for your support.
